Targeted Audiences
It's relatively easy to send emails to everyone on our 7,000+ member database. We do that every month. We call that an email "blast." There are over 13,000 people on the database, and more than 6,000 of them only have snail mail addresses, not email. But we can handle them too, it just takes more paper and stamp-licking effort!
But what if you wanted to communicate with a specific audience, like all parents with children and SLPs in the Tampa, Florida, area? Or if you wanted to start a new adult chapter in the middle of Wisconsin? Or how about advertising a CEU workshop for SLPs in the entire state of Arizona or in the Seattle/Tacoma region? Or an adult workshop in the Washington, DC, area? Or get a youth group started in Detroit? Or how about if you wanted to simply build NSA membership in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex? It's a little more complicated than a general email blast, but we now have tools to let us do just that!
Our new NEON system which we use as our fundamental "people database" provides us the capability to pull reports which target specific audiences. It's called the "Specific Audience Identification" or SAI Project. In the past several months we've used this tool to help start a new chapter in Wisconsin, promote a CEU and Youth Day in Tampa, Florida, and do all those things mentioned above. And it's really been successful. The new Wisconsin chapter is up and running. The CEU/Youth Day in Tampa nearly blew the roof off the building! The CEU event in Phoenix in March is being promoted with SAI reports. And we'll be using it to promote an adult workshop in the Washington DC area in May.
And the cool thing about this capability is that it's FREE! We haven't developed a standard input form for this capability yet, but if you have a special need to communicate with a specific audience - for whatever reason - let us know. The NSA News and Website committee is working constantly trying all sorts of new ideas and tools to use the NEON database and NSA website more effectively.
