A World of Information...

The NSA is the largest stuttering support group in the United States; however, we are not the only organization dedicated to supporting people who stutter, their families, and the clinicians who serve them. There are many helpful resources available throughout the country - and throughout the world - for those interested in stuttering.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the professional association for speech-language pathologists. ASHA's Special Interest Division for Fluency and Fluency Disorders (DIV-4) is comprised of clinicians and researchers who have expressed a particular interest in stuttering. (www.asha.org)

The British Stammering Association, (BSA), "is the only [UK] national organization for adults and children who stammer, run by people who stammer." This organization is the United Kingdom's equivalent to the NSA. http://www.stammering.org

Friends is a national organization created to provide a network of love and support for children and teenagers who stutter, their families, and the professionals who work with them. http://www.friendswhostutter.org

Our Time is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the confidence and communication skills of youth who stutter, ages 8-18. This year-round NYC-based program provides a supportive community where youth who stutter can make new friends, create and perform in original short films, plays, and musicals, while gaining confidence and social/communication skills that will help them achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals. Youth express themselves at their own pace, in their own time, without fear of judgment or ridicule. Our Time NYC is provided to all participants free of charge. www.ourtimestutter.org

Passing Twice is a support organization dedicated to the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender stutterers and their friends. (passingtwice.com)

The Specialty Board on Fluency Disorders (SBFD) is the organization that recognizes stuttering specialists. Their website includes information on becoming a stuttering specialist, and a list of specialists organized alphabetically or by state. (http://www.stutteringspecialist.org)
