Hello fellow NSA family members! We are in need of your help!
All it takes is a much time as you are willing to give – a few hours a day, a week or even a month. Any time you can give us would be appreciated and we are willing to work around your schedule. Many of you have asked how you can help and so we have come up with a list of projects that we could use your help with at no cost to you!
At the moment, the following are projects we are looking for assistance with:
Word Processing & General Administration:
* Organization of lists, database information and other data (proficiency in Microsoft Word and/or Excel a plus!)
* Create a PowerPoint presentation for chapter leaders to show at local meetings highlighting what the NSA has to offer
* Inputting information into the NSA database
* Respond to occasional queries to the National office
* Join our "Welcoming committee!" This entails corresponding with new members or people who contact the NSA with questions and includes introducing yourself, hearing their story, "showing them around" the NSA by telling them what the NSA has to offer (local meetings, yahoo groups, annual conference) and being available for any questions they may have. We already have a template to use so all you have to do is alter it with your personal information and send!
Graphic Artists:
* Creation of graphic images or fun animations for website
Writers/Editors:
* Summarize chapter reports for Letting GO, Family Voices and other NSA publications
* Summarize topic discussions on the teen and parent Yahoo groups
* Review NSA website content and write intro paragraphs for new items
* Assist with development of 'Stuttering 101', the “online” course to learn more about stuttering
Website Editors:
* Looking for people to join our website team to help maintain and determine what information would be beneficial on the site (experience with websites and MS Word a plus but not required)
Video Editors:
* Edit video for posting on the web (Youtube and the NSA website)
* Create mini-videos for organization use
Photo Editors:
* Edit annual conference pictures for the website
* Other picture editing projects on occasion
Outreach Efforts:
* Distribute NSA pamphlets to local pediatrician's office
* Hang posters on local bulletin boards to educate the public on stuttering and the NSA
* Educate your local school SLPs on the subject of stuttering and the NSA
Note: Processes for the above outreach efforts are in place – we just need people to assist with helping to spread the word!
If interested in assisting with any of the above projects, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Cathy Olish at nsavolunteers@aol.com indicating which tasks you would like to volunteer for.
