Stuttering is a complicated disorder, and treating stuttering can be a challenging task. For this reason, many speech-language pathologists report that they are not entirely comfortable with their skills for helping children and adults who stutter.
At the NSA, we believe that speech-language pathologists can help people to cope with and confront their stutter, and we are here to help! On this site, you will find information about the NSA’s many programs and support initiatives to help clinicians improve their ability to help children and adults who stutter.
You can refer your clients to local support groups, you can bring your younger clients and their families to participate in NSA Youth Days, and you and your clients can attend the NSA's Annual Conference. You can also use our helpful newsletters and other publications to enhance your therapy with people who stutter.
These are just some of the ways the NSA partners with Speech-Language Pathologists to make the world brighter for people who stutter. Click on the links above or follow the menus to the right to get more information. You can also email us at SLPs@WeStutter.org or call us (800) We Stutter. We're here to help!
You can even improve your own knowledge and understanding of stuttering by attending one of our Continuing Education (CE) workshops. (The NSA is an ASHA-accredited CE provider)
